They limit our ability to find viable solutions to everyday problems. Most of our mental blocks originate from events and situations that have warranted some sort of defense mechanism….enter the Troll. To eliminate negative self-talk and kick the troll to the curb you need to find a set point.
Negative self-talk or feeding your troll is something that we all do. Food can be obtained from our own life experiences or what someone has told us. But wherever this dialog comes from, indulging in trollish behavior won’t benefit you. Negative self-talk or feeding your troll creates stress, limitations on your potential and disrupts the foundations of all potential things that can happen for; it creates ill health and inability to communicate effectively, and initiates all self-fulfilling prophecies of failure, lack of success and doom!
The troll has a functions in our lives…it is there to offer contrast and parallel in our lives, and ironically to assist us in standing up and taking a firm stance on the choices we want to make in our lives. Fear is like nectar of the Gods to your troll. And for desert your troll enjoys watching your self-proclaimed prophecy be fulfilled.
Making Changes In Your Troll
If you don’t want to live in a negative world…whatever that means to you, don’t talk negatively to yourself. Don’t kill your troll it has a good function in your life: control your troll.
Step 1: Self analyze the statements or sentiments that are being sent by your troll. To do this you will need to be very open and detached, to an extent that it feels like you are connected to the analysis in a detached way. Try not to bring your own personal emotions into the field. Think of it as though a stranger has come to you with this information and you are giving impartial advice.
Step 2: Concentrate on the positive reasons as to why this has come up, and how it can help. Try not to pass judgment or even acknowledge that the statement or sentiment is not what you would consider positive, good, or nice, because this will give your troll more ammunition. Keep in mind that the most fruitful analysis is an impartially analysis.
Step 3: Put Your Troll On A Diet Using The Troll Equation
